Background Information

Chuka University (CU) is one of the public universities in Kenya. It is located in Chuka town, Igamba-ngombe Constituency, Tharaka Nithi County.

The University started as a constituent college of Egerton University in 2004. At the time, it was referred to as Eastern Campus College, Chuka. It was founded to provide convenient access to higher education among people living in the Eastern region of Kenya. The university was later upgraded to an independent public university under the commission of President Mwai Kibaki’s administration under the legal notice No. 161 of 2007.

Chuka University is headed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Erastus Njoka, assisted by two deputy vice chancellors (DVCs). There are also two registrars and a finance officer, who complete the administrative wing of the institution.

Chuka University has a student portal that can be accessed through the link https://portal.chuka.ac.ke/.

Once you open the link, you will be directed to a log-in page where you are required to enter your registration number and password. These details are provided to the student during registration.

Enter the registration number and password that you were given during registration, then click “Log In”. From there you can be able to see your personal details, including registered courses, grades, fees balance, etc.

Application Procedure

To apply for a course at Chuka University, you are required to download official application forms from the university’s website or collect them from any campus of the University.

The link to download Chuka University’s application form is: https://www.chuka.ac.ke/prospective. You can also check the list of courses using this link.

Once you fill the form, include a payment of KES2000 non-refundable application fee for degree and diploma courses. Certificate courses attract an application fee of KES1500. These fees should be deposited to Chuka University’s bank account numbers.

The filled forms should then be returned to the university’s offices or sent by mail to 109-60400, Chuka. This application should be addressed to Registrar (Academic) for undergraduate programmes and to Director, Graduate School for postgraduate programmes.

Chuka University’s KUCCPS admission letter 2020 can be downloaded through the link: https://admissions.chuka.ac.ke/

Once you click that link, you will be provided with a space where you can enter your admission number in the format XXXXXXXXXXX/2019, where XXXXXXXXXXX is your KCSE index number and 2019 is the year you did KCSE.
