Background Information
Daystar University is a private university offering diploma, graduate, and post-graduate courses in Kenya. It is a Christian institution with a strong commitment to developing Christian servant leaders, managers, researchers, scholars, and professionals in various fields. The university is known for its modern facilities and approach to education. Daystar University has a team of qualified faculty members who promote quality teaching, personalized training, and modern research methods.
The first campus of the University was constructed at Nairobi West, but it recently started a new campus at Athi River, which accommodates over 1,500 students. Daystar’s Athi River Campus sits on a land of approximately 300 acres.
Daystar University was founded in 1967 by an American missionary called Donald K. Smith in collaboration with an African journalist named Motsoko Pheko. Originally, it was known as Daystar Communications, and its aim was to promote fine ways of communicating God’s message to people in Africa. Daystar Communications was intended to conduct research on the best design and effective methods of communicating to target audience. Its operations began in 1971 an when Smith left Daystar University in 1980, it was converted to a full university led by Africans. Currently, Daystar University has an estimated population of 5,000 students.
Academically, Daystar University has six schools offering numerous courses:

Daystar Admission/Application Requirements and Application process
The requirements for admission to Daystar University vary according to course level.
The minimum requirements for certificate courses offered at Daystar University include:
· Mean Grade of D+ (Plus) in KCSE or 3 credits in IGCSE or an equivalent of that
· National ID/Passport/Birth Certificate and academic documents
For a diploma course, the minimum requirement for admission to Daystar University is a mean grade of C- (minus) or C (plain) in KCSE exam, or a principal pass in ‘A’ Level, or at least 4 credits in IGCSE.
An applicant seeking admission for Diploma in Communication is required to score at least C (plain) in KCSE.
The minimum entry requirements for undergraduate courses at Daystar University are:
· KCSE mean grade of at least C+ (Plus), IGCSE qualification with 5 credits and 2 credit passes in A level or GCE division 2
· Students who wish to pursue Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication require a mean grade of C+ in English
· Students who scored C+ in English and want to pursue BA in Communication will do ENG 098 while those who scored a B- and above will do ENG 214
· For one to pursue Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Computer Science he or she must score a C+ or higher in Mathematics and Physics.
· Applicants who wish to do B.Sc. Nursing will also need a C+ in Mathematics or Science, and a C+ in English and Biology. As for A Level students, 2 principal passes in Biology and Chemistry will be required.
Post graduate courses at Daystar University require a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in any accredited university with at least 2.75 GPA or first and upper second class honors.
Application Process
To be admitted to Daystar University, there are two options:
Applications by Self-Sponsored Students
Self-sponsored students can apply through the university by either picking application forms at the university offices or downloading the forms online.
Previously, students who scored C+ or B- would not be admitted through government sponsorship programmes. Such students would apply for university courses at Daystar University online. Nowadays, all students who score a C+ in KCSE get placement through KUCCPs.
However, if you have graduated with a diploma and would like to continue with higher education, you fall under this category of self-sponsored students who apply for Daystar University courses online.
What you have to do is pick an application form at the university’s Athi River or Nairobi Campus.
You should then fill the form comprehensively with your personal details and submit it to the institution’s offices with a non-refundable fee of Ksh. 2000. Then wait for the university to review your application and notify you.

KUCCPS Application
Another method of applying for a course at Daystar University is through KUCCPS. All you have to do is to choose your course from the list of courses below. Then go to KUCCPS student portal through the following link: https://students.kuccps.net/
Log in using your KCSE index number as username and KCPE index number as password. Also indicate your KCSE year as shown in the portal. Once you are logged in, go to https://students.kuccps.net/programmes/ section in the KUCCPS portal and get the code of your course. You will then use that code to apply for your course on the KUCCPS portal.
KUCCPS Admission Letters
Once you apply for your course at Daystar University through KUCCPS, you can pick your letter from the main campus. You can also wait for your letter to be delivered to your postal address that you used during application. Daystar University Student Portal
Daystar University has an online portal where students can access their courses, units, fees structure, and other important information and resources related to their programmes. Once you have clicked on this link, you can create a new account or log in if you already have a student account.
To create a new account, you need to have a student ID or registration number. So you will use the student ID, first name, and last name to register with Daystar University student portal.
From there you will follow the instructions you will be given to create a student account in the student portal.
