Rongo University is a government institution located in Rongo, Migori County. The University was awarded Charter by H.E. Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of the Republic of Kenya on 7th October 2016. The University is committed to developing and delivering quality, market driven academic programs and undertaking research and extension activities. The mission of the University is to provide high quality education through teaching, research, community service and nurturing innovative graduates.

Admission Requirements

An applicant must the following minimum requirements for the respective program they wish to apply for

Undergraduate programme

  • C+ for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders or its equivalent as determined by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC);
  • KNEC diploma or its equivalent.

Postgraduate diploma programme

  • Undergraduate degree holder.

Master’s programme

  • Relevant academic bachelor’s degree holders with Upper second-class honors or a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00
  • Lower second-class honors or a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.50 on a scale of 4.00 with additional relevant training, evidence of research capability either through research, paper presentations or peer reviewed publications and relevant working experience.
  • Relevant postgraduate diploma.

Application Process

Application forms may be obtained from the University Main Campus at Kitere hill admissions office or through the university website APPLICATION-FORM. Non-refundable application fee of KES 500 for diploma/certificate, KES 1000 for undergraduate KES 2000 for post graduate programmes. The completed application forms, copies of relevant academic certificates, copies of the application fees receipt should be returned or sent to Director, Privately Sponsored Students Programme (PSSP).

Students who enroll through the government-sponsored programme can apply for admission through KUCPPS students’ portal accessible through www.kuccps.ac.ke . Log into the portal using your KCSE index number as username and KCPE index number as password. Apply for admission selecting Rongo University as your preferred university choosing your course of interest according to your qualifications.
