Speaking at the KICD headquarters today, Magoha suggested that those teachers who had been deployed to new destinations should report to their new stations immediately as the government prepares to reopen schools.

The big boss had announced last week that over 50 principals were moved in a huge restructuring drive intended to improve technical and vocational training institutions. According to Teachers Arena, the decision to transfer TVET principals was made due to the rampant misuse of resources and the failure to innovate.

Some college administrators have also been transferred as a result of their failure to manage finances efficiently, leading to run-ins and increased operational inefficiencies and costs in their institutions.

The restructuring process is intended to reawaken technical and vocational training in the country even as the country aims to become more industrialized going forward. TVET institutions play a critical role in training and research to enhance improved skills and innovation for industrialization and economic growth.

Today, the education CS warned that failure by the affected principals to act on the directive will lead to possible action. It is not yet clear what kind of action the CS refers to, but it will definitely be messy.

In the transfer drive, Kiirua TTI principal Anne Mbogo is expected to go to the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic in a similar capacity.

Mary Mwende is expected to report to move from the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic to Wote TTI.

Moreover, former Siaya Institute of Technology head John Odhiambo has been moved to Kabete National Polytechnic.

Sammy Waititu moves to Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology from PC Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute.

These and 49 others will have to transfer immediately or face the wrath of George Magoha.
