The Teachers Service Commission has advertised positions for principals, deputy principles, head teachers, and deputy head teachers.
This move is seen as a possible fast-tracking of the independence of junior schools, which have hitherto been headed by primary school head teachers.
The TSC and the Ministry of Education had previously emphasized that junior schools should eventually be independent, leading to the formation of comprehensive schools to be headed by a principle rather than head teacher.
In the new advertisement, principles are required to have served as deputy principal II or senior master for a period of 12 months prior to the appointment as principal.
Deputies must have served as senior master III T-scale 10 for a minimum of 3 years.
The applications should be submitted online before November 18, 2024.
